getting the Z new shoes
Now the choice between 17's or 18's?
I'll be running TT eibach pro spings with KYB AGX shocks. Ups/downs of either?

Re: getting the Z new shoes
the suspension setup would give you a nice change.
wheels it's really up to you, 17's will be cheaper on wheels and tires. |

Im getting rims whole sale. My step dads boss owns a rim shop, so im getting my rims for the cost he gets them from the manufacure. So im guessing less than $100 (easy) per rim. Tires are my problem, I was going to try to get the same size rims as i have now and just get the same tires remounted. How much do you think rims cost wholesale? as i said im getting them for the cost the company sells them to a retailer. |

i say go with 17". they are lighter and any big brake kit will fit under a 17", so there is no real need for 18".

Re: getting the Z new shoes
ill prolly do 17s for cost reasons. Wholesale is usually about 50% less than retail right?

Re: getting the Z new shoes
I like my 18's. they fit just right, no rubbing. 18x9 in the front, 18x9.5 out back. (Although they do dwarf stock brakes)

Re: getting the Z new shoes
i went and picked out a few rims yesterday, waiting to hear back on prices. Most were 17x7.5 and there was some 18x7.5 in there as well. What are the widest tires an NA could run (reasonably)?
wouldnt 9.5's be a little wide? |

if you're upgrading, then make it an upgrade. Nothing less than 8.5. 9.5's are prefect for the rears. I'm about to order some stern ST-1's 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear. A buddy of mine here at work is running those sizes with no rub issues at all. Not sure what to tell you about price since it's wholesale. |

Re: getting the Z new shoes
Hmm, I'll need to do some more looking around in that case. The lug pattern on Na's is 5x113.3 right?
So i need to find rims with 5x113.3 and either 17/18 x 8.5/9.5 If you have any good sites that sell rims, please link me to them, i wanan take a look around and get some more ideas. Now that you mention it i do wanna run some larger offests. What suspension set up is your friend running with the 9.5's in the back? WIll i be safe with Eibachs and KYB's? Re: getting the Z new shoes
you've got an n/a, no reason to stagger them. I'd stick with the stock width. I personally would get 17" 5zigen fn01r-c's, but that's just me

Re: getting the Z new shoes
i dont intend to stagger, im thinking 8.5s all around and i have a few 5zigen's on my list of rims to get prices out.
and actually i belive the ones you suggested im looking into, im getting them wholesale as well, my big choice is bronze or black Whats the exact lug pattern of a 91 NA? 5x114.3 25mm or what? Last edited by 91slicktop : 06-08-2006 at 04:45 PM. |

Didn't say you can't, just that it's pointless imho. The only reason to run a wider rear tire on a z is if you have traction problems, which you're not gonna have in a NA. A stock sized rear tire will provide plenty of traction. The only thing a wider rear tire will do is screw with the handling, and make it push more. |
