Stillen GTZ lip install (NEW PICS, 56K GO AWAY)
So I called Concept Z today concerning installation of my front lip. They said that the front would have to be cut out to fit it properly, if I wanted functional ducts (which I do want for my swap next year). So after much thinking, I just decided to tackle it. I actually just got done 10 min ago from typing this up!
It's 2am, and I can't sleep. I decided to head to Wal-Mart for a new carbide Dremel bit to cut out the notches. Here's my progress: This is the first time I've ever taken the front bumper off. Not too bad once I finally did it I know my car's been in some sorta wreck, nothing major though. This is the condition of my front bumper (you can also see the fog light housing cracked) Test fitting the front. It physically wouldn't fit on if I didn't cut the slots. Notches cut out (doing this made me nervous) Quickley fitted to see how it sits. Turned out nice and flush AND done! (hard to see since its like 6:45am) I'm going to the paint shop today to see how much it's gonna be to have it painted......surely not that much. With Stillen side skirts, I think it's really gonna set it off.

Re: Stillen GTZ lip install
Passenger side has waaaaay less room than driver's. I fit in the 2+0, but am much more comfortable in my 2+2. There should be a pic of me with the t-tops off and the seat all the way up and my head sticking out of the car. I just wish my club member's would upload them.

Re: Stillen GTZ lip install
I can't ride space mountain at disneyland. It'll decapitate me if I sit up straight. And I have to sit in 2 seats. Not because I'm fat (which I am), but because I'm so tall. I miss that ride.

Re: Stillen GTZ lip install
You got $75 to go/ With parking and 1 effing ticket that's about how much you'd spend. Not including the $4 for a can of coke.

Re: Stillen GTZ lip install
When I ride rollercoasters and put my harness all the way down, I usually still have space to move around when its fully secured. Airtime is great!
Curious.....I'm going to finish securing the lip, once painted, with 3M mounting tape, like Stillen recommends. Anyone have any experience with it and how strong it is? |

Re: Stillen GTZ lip install
I had teh N/A lip and it was fastened with rivets. Damn father. The rivets would've been covered by that black strip though.

Re: Stillen GTZ lip install
The 3m tape is what was used to put my front "Fairlady Z" plate on, it doesn't have any pressure or weight on it. It's had the daylights washed out of it and still holding up. I think as long as the surface is clean and dry it'll be ok.

3M tape is what they supplied me with to put my spoiler on.
Other than the 2 bolts that go into the stock 3rd brake light mounting place deal.

Re: Stillen GTZ lip install
Well, I have a 52" HD widescreen, decently plush couches, and a chiropractic matress. It's not as "baller" as you described, but it'll do.
and......MY FRONT LIP IS DONE, YAY! Pictures coming tomorrow |

Re: Stillen GTZ lip install
Just.......wow. I can't be more pleased of how it looks.
Some "artsy" pics And our car group, 419 Creations. Behind the name: We do all the work on our cars at my house, and my home address is 419. My buddy made the name and logo. I love it! I've finally made up my mind on everything I want to get, and its come down to Stillen side skirts and the '99 spoiler. My "look" is almost complete. |

Re: Stillen GTZ lip install
Mmm I like that painted lip a lot...I'd put it above the USDM and one notch below the J-spec, but not much below. Very clean looking Z you have there.

Re: Stillen GTZ lip install
And that was my whole idea. I didnt' want to change up the front so much that it didn't look like a Z. I want everything I do to this car to basically highlight this car, not change it. The front still looks just like a stock Z, just with a lip.
Thanks for that link......great price! Last edited by McLarenF1Kid : 05-11-2006 at 03:46 PM. |
