Anyone got a good how-to
on polishing wheels? I wanna polish my stockers otherwise I'll have to repaint them again cause when I was stripping off the black paint it took off the regular paint too. If I have to paint them I'll paint them gunmetal. Like this

Re: Anyone got a golod how-to
Not too much experience here, but sand it as smooth as you can get it and buff the hell out of it.

Re: Anyone got a golod how-to
Wow. OMG I will go do that right now. I didn't know it was so simple. I should be done in the next 10 minutes. :) Just messin'.
Edit- In my search I came accross this http://forums.turbobricks.com/showt...6739#post376739 I'm hoping Shris will chime in cause I think he's done it before. |
Re: Anyone got a goood how-to
I hate polishing, especially from a cast / machined finish.
From what I know, where you start is all based on the coarseness of the surface you're polishing. From stock cast wheels to a mirror finish would be something like this: 60 grit till the pitting is gone 220 grit till the 60 grit scratches are gone 400 grit till the 220 scratches are gone 800 grit till the 400 scratches are gone 1000 / 1200 / 1500 grit till it's almost shiny then polishing compound and jewelers rouge if you choose. You can go more or less grits in between. |
Re: Anyone got a good how-to
Polishing is such a huge pain in the ass, it's usually worth the cost to outsource the polishing to a local company. Gunmetal looks nice on black Zs, but if you go that route I'd recommend powdercoating the wheels instead of regular paint for durability.
